What works today

What runs now, and what is still planned

DeedLens is a working product run with pilot companies, not yet a hosted service. This page says what each part does today, plainly, and changes as the build changes.

Capabilities

Capability by capability

  • Upload and readingWorks todayPDFs, Word files and phone photos (iPhone and WhatsApp included), up to 60 MB a file. Pages are read with OCR; a paper photographed page by page is read as one document.
  • Cross document findingsWorks, with a limit110 rules are written: 73 that apply everywhere and 37 for the FCT, Lagos, Nasarawa and Enugu. None has been approved by the legal adviser yet, so a customer workspace shows no findings until each rule is approved.
  • Evidence on the pageWorks todayEvery finding opens the page it rests on, with the value or clause outlined where the reader found its place. Values the reader was unsure of wait for a person.
  • Email and WhatsApp draftsWorks todayFrom the findings you choose: numbered points with their page or clause, a full and a shorter version, editable and saved with the matter. DeedLens drafts; you send.
  • Follow up and repliesWorks todayPaste a reply and mark each point answered, partly answered, promised or received; the follow up covers only what is still open. Replies are entered by hand; nothing reads your inbox.
  • Costs and deadlinesWorks todayCharges and dates found in the papers, each marked stated, calculated, conditional or amount not stated, with its clause. Fee wording that a photo blurs can be missed.
  • Report exportWorks, with a limitA PDF report in ten sections. It can be shared by private link only after a person signs it off, and only with findings from approved rules.
  • Obligations calendarWorks todayGround rent, building and development deadlines from the papers, exported to any calendar. Reminder emails are off until an email provider is chosen.
  • Reading with a language modelPlannedWritten for Azure OpenAI, off by default: in South Africa North these models run only as global deployments, which needs counsel's approval first.
  • Hosted customer accountsPlannedToday DeedLens runs on the team's own computer for guided pilots. It is built to run on Microsoft Azure in South Africa North; sign in uses Microsoft Entra.

The details

States, checks, formats and limits

States and deals

The FCT, Lagos, Nasarawa and Enugu. Seven deal types: plot resale on a state title, an estate plot from a developer, family land, a built house resale, a flat off plan, a lease or tenancy, and mortgage collateral.

Checks written and checks approved

Every rule starts as a draft written from its sources. Only the legal adviser makes a rule live, in the app. Until then its findings are seen by the DeedLens team, never by customers.

Formats and limits

PDF, Word (DOCX) and images (JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC), up to 60 MB a file. Blurred or dark pages are flagged for a clearer copy, never guessed.

When reading fails

A file that cannot be read is marked failed with the reason; a page that is too faint is listed as needing a clearer scan, with a link to it. Nothing is left half read without saying so.

Where it runs

For guided pilots, on the DeedLens team's own computer in Abuja. When hosted, on Microsoft Azure in South Africa North, the closest Azure region to Nigeria.
